The community-based Coalition seeks less car dependence and better
access to travel alternatives through improved transport systems and
land use pattern. Their free subscription newsletter informs of

not-for-profit organisation committed to promoting, celebrating and
practicing the principles of sustainable living.

The Sustainable Living Festival is an eight-year-strong celebration,
pow-wow and showcase of leading examples of sustainable living in
Australia. The Sustainable Living Festival showcases the most
innovative examples of sustainable living and thinking in Australia
today. Over the space of the weekend, the Festival draws together a
variety of talks, exhibits, interactive workshops, artworks, films and
performances to engage and inspire the wider community.
Over its seven years of existence, the event has experienced tremendous
growth, from 2,500 visitors in its first year to over 120,000 at the
2005 festival.
The annual festival is currently held at landmark Federation Square in
central Melbourne which is a sign of the growth in awareness towards
sustainable living practices. Presentations at the festival have
featured Bill Mollison, permaculture-guru.
